Another great idea to make your stockpile work for you is to find ways to re-sell some of the items. What you got for free can be sold for well under the retail price for a nice profit. Ebay and poshmark are just two of many online companies that make it easy to sell just about anything. You saved money by getting it for free (or next to free). Now make some money by selling it to someone who is looking for it. This is especially true for those items that will expire quickly and have a short shelf life or those items you know you have no use for but took because they made you money. So that outfit you got for $2 or the pair of shoes you took out the store for $3 but can’t fit, find a way to make $20 on them by selling them.
I have an aunt overseas who has a store. She comes to the US to stock up and goes back to sell. Apparently, her customers are in LOVE with Olay products. So, seeing how much she spends retail on each face crème, I told myself she would definitely buy them from me if I could get them for her at a cheaper price. Every once in a while, Publix supermarket will put them on clearance. They offer them at around $8 when they are regularly between $19.99 and $22. At the same time, they offer an additional sale of $2.50 off any Olay item which they will honor on the clearance prices as well. Usually, having no real need for these items, I walk past them. But not this time. I pulled out my P&G inserts, which always offer money off Olay products and put it to good use. I bought 3 that day and paid around $3 for each one. I have done that 4 times now. So, I have about 12 crèmes to give her for which I will charge her $15 each. So, instead of adding this to my stockpile, I put it to good use and made $180 for $36 spent. Money to put towards my credit card payment, my mortgage, or anywhere I decide. Works for me!
Your stockpile is for more than just replenishing items in your home when they run out. Put on your business hat and see how it can make you more money than you saved buying it.
