You wake up after a long night dreaming of your next store raid. You head to the stores bright and early, coupons and comfortable shoes in tow. You get to your sale items with your buggy ready to load up. There’s a deal this week on Nivea body wash. It’s BOGOF and you have a coupon to use in addition. Both, with the sale price, will come to around $3.27. You have a coupon good on two that will take $3 off. So you are reveling in the fact that you are about to walk out paying .27 cents for 2 luxurious body washes. Then you look. And keep looking. And look some more. You don’t want to believe what is becoming very obvious. So you check the lotion section and come back to the soap section as if something has changed in that little amount of time. And it dawns on you. There are none left. Before you start Home Alone screaming, take a deep breath and calm yourself.
Enter superhero Rain checks to save the day!!!!
If you ever find yourself in a situation similar to this one, please don’t just leave the store in defeat. Bargain Specialists don’t take no for an answer. Most stores will offer a rain check for items that are on sale that are out of stock and honor the sales price later when they get more in stock. As long as you keep the original paper completed on which a store clerk will indicate the product, the quantity, the regular price and the sales price, you should be good to return at a later date. The only things to keep in mind are the date on your manufacturer coupon and the store policy on rain checks. Every store has a different policy – some give you ten days to use it and others give you a year. Some have a cap on how many you can purchase and others do not. Be sure to ask so you are not blindsided a second time. As long as you have some leeway on the dates of your manufacturer coupons and you know how to use it, a raincheck works just as well during the sale as it does after it. It’s inconvenient and a total buzz kill, but it’s better than nothing. Always get a rain check!
